WEBMASTER CYNEFIN 2009

Trouble with bats, badgers or other protected species? We can provide specialist ecological and environmental surveys and monitoring for both large and small projects.

Environmental impact assessments (EIA)
Applications for planning permission for major developments have to be accompanied by an environmental statement, a document which describes in detail all environmental impacts that a proposed development is likely to have. Most recently, Cynefin completed an EIA for the proposed extension of the Llangollen railway in 2008. We are still working on additional projects there. In the past Cynefin has provided EIAs for diverse developments such as slate quarries and wind farms.

Environmental Management - The Welsh Highland Railway
Cynefin has been responsible for the ecological surveying and environmental monitoring throughout the restoration of this historic railway from Caernarfon to Porthmadog during the last 10 years. Cynefin helped the railway to ensure that all its statutory environmental obligations were met. There are unique habitats for wildlife, several statutorily protected species and working farms along the route. Cynefin's planners, landscape designers and environmental scientists collaborate with the railway engineers and landowners, and the planning and other statutory bodies, to ensure the works fit comfortably into the scenically spectacular natural environment through which the route passes.
